Für das Heckblech bietet sich ein Schlachtgolf an wie der vom 14.8. aus unserem Kleinanzeigenmarkt.
Hinzubekommen ist der 74er sicher.

Weil mein Deutsche schrift nicht so besonders gut is schreibe ich mal auf english, wenn das problemen gibt werde ich es aber auf Deutsch probieren, antworten gerne auf Deutsch!

I have bought the 1883 swallowtail, I've read the posts here and are pleased you people are so positive and full of knowledge.

Could someone tell me what this tag means? I'm sure X5 is the colourcode but what's the rest?

For sure this golf will survive! I will take my time collecting parts and are not in a rush to restore.
It will definately be restored originally with all the correct parts...research will take time!

I have a brochure of 4/74 (same as on this site) but this is strange and I'm affraid this will not help me very much with original restoration. A lot of details are different like the mirrors or is this the guideline I should hold on?

Look at this very informativ Webside about the http://www.swallowtail.info/ ]swallowtail-Golf.

Most things from this side are right wich I'have seen...
Only the "antenna on the a-pillar (not sure whether this is normal)" at "Swallowtail Oddities" is only a part from an free dealer.

The brochure of 4/74 has many pictures from the prototypes, its not very real...

the tag is part of the assembly-line management.
The number layout varies, depending on the Year.

Thank you very much for all this information, I think I'll visit a golf IG meeting once (if there are meetings offcourse)

I know something about the tag now, x5 = Ancona metallic (I find it a nice colour) and 202 means 20th week 2nd day of 1974... so 1850 is left...someone any ideas about it?

I've asked the museum for a birthcertificate so I'll have to wait. If I receive one I will keep you posted.

I'm on the hunt for a NOS swallowtail panel and 2 sidepanels..

It's amazing how many emails I receive from people who tell me how much they like my golf!
I've never seen that so worse. I own an audi fox station 1975 #10 and a 1952 barndoor and I don't get so much feedback on these vehikels.

I'm sure about how much the golf means to people, I like it!

Yes there is one big meeting every year in July @ the "Allerpark" in Wolfsburg, this year´s http://www.golf1-ig.de/galleries/meetings/2007/meeting/index.php ]meeting is also sadly behind us 🙁 but it was a nice meet :), hope to see you next year @ the Allerpark! Maybe with your early swallowtail?:)
