Hi leute,
Last week I bought a new car, a 1982 Golf Van, in a blue colour. Lh5h, cornat blau, but i can't find anything about it. Was it a commercial colour or? Will try to post some pics this week.
Greetings,
Michel
Hi Michel,
i am not really sure, but when i am right it was possible to order diffrent/other/Special colo(u)rs beside the ones mentioned in the Golf prospect.
I know that is not really helpfull - but perhaps an Information.
Good luck for your further search.
Kind regards
Jan Philipp
Hi Michel,
there is an "Special colo(u)r catalog" existing. Commercial colour is possible, too. Especially for a Golf Van. By the way - very interessting car!!!
http://www.golf1-ig.de/galleries/prospectus/show.php?pro=van
Do you have still the "data sticker" or "Special" colour sticker in your car. Both in the trunk/boot.
can you make a photo?
Still good luck!

Hi Jan Philipp ( and others),
Made some pics of the golf now, as you can see I took it from the junkyard. It still in ok shape and only needs some cleaning and 2 front fenders as I can see now.
Its a real great colour and can't find not much about it... except it is a transporter t3 colour.
Any more info about the golf van is very welcome by the way
Thanks!
Michel
Hello Michel,
thats an interesting car.
I see the original small rubber in the holes of the rear domes,
and the stainless steel covers at the rear.
The small divider is missing and it seems,
that the floor in the trunk has been changed.
I assume the rear windows in the metal panels
could be some kind of aftermarket solution.
The colour is noted on the sticker, so its from the factory.
Most probably a special order.
kind regards, Jan S.
Hello Michel,
thank you for the photos of this interesting golf.
As Jan S. wrote - the colour is from the factory.
I see dutch numberplates. Isn`t it so that you can look on an Internet page who owend the car before. maybe the first owner was a Company and the colour is Close to the one of These Company. (for example: Coca Cola if the car would be red).
Is the car still in the netherlands?
We have our anual gathering next Weekend from Friday 14.07.to Sunday 16.07.2017 in Wolfsburg if it is not to far. Perhaps it is possible for you to join the Meeting/ to visit us (with or without the golf) but with some (more) Pictures.
Wish you GOOD LUCK & SUCCESS with your car & enough energy for the Restauration.
many Kind regards
Jan Philipp
again with some Change - could not edit the text from before

Let´s assume my brains are still working....
The Golf Van was originally designed for the German government. The Volkswagen target for this development was the “Post Golf” (German Mail - Colorcode R132, Ginstergelb), the “Bundeswehr” (German Army), airline carriers ground vehicles, manufactures and others. But there was also export and a right hand drive of the van. Different color was no issue.
This car was equipped on very low level, two front seats and a platform in the back to allow transportation of goods and/or equipment. Most but not all engines were Diesel , 50PS.
If I remember correct the “Deutsche Post” owned approximately 40000 Golf 1 Van´s back in the early and mid 80´s. I remember the wobbling dashboard on the 50PS Diesel. This engine was a nightmare. Some of these Van models also were equipped with a special safety belt system for the driver (two point safety belt , semi-automatic and a acoustic warn signal when the belt was not closed). This is where the three black stopper coming from. For the two point safety belt there was a extra anchor plate required.
I´m not sure if there was a passenger seat in the “Post-Golf” model.
...and there is more of this
Cheers
The Golf Van was originally designed for the German government.
No, it wasnt.
The "Van" and the "Stadtlieferwagen" are models for markets
where cars with less windows were tax reduced.
The idea of cars for this niche market is older than the mk1 golf.
The postal golf is not a model of its own.
If I remember correct the “Deutsche Post” owned approximately 40000 Golf 1 Van´s back in the early and mid 80´s.
No, they didnt.
The "van" and "stadtlieferwagen" had panels in the rear windows
and are models of its own.
The "bundespost" ordered golf mk1, with a list of extras.
They did not order "Golf Van"
This engine was a nightmare.
No, it wasnt.
It was a economic and quite successful engine.

Technically possible, but unlikely that it was ordered in a van.
I´m not sure if there was a passenger seat in the “Post-Golf” model.
Yes, but only if it was a 4 door.
You are right. I´m getting old and my brains do not work correct anymore....
Hi!
Yes it is a dutch car, that is correct. As the sticker states it was originally sold in the Netherlands. There is no way to find the first owner, dutch law protects anonimity unfortunately;-)
Ah last weekend Im was too busy to go to Hannover, but Ill try to go a next time. If not with this Van, maybe i can bring my 5.74 golf.
If you like I will try to update this topic a little with process of fixing the Van and getting it on the road again. It will not be restored yet as I have too many things going on... sadly haha
If you needont to know things or want to see pics just short!)))
Best,
Michel

Hey Michel,
you should definetely do that. Among 131 cars, we only had 2 swallowtails this year 🙁
